ITMO today is more than simply an advanced science and educational center in Russia; it’s a research and educational corporation. Advanced Engineering School and Priority 2030
ITMO University was named a winner of the federal call for establishment of advanced engineering schools (AES) in 2022. ITMO’s Engineering School offers training within four educational programs: Chemistry and Artificial Intelligence, Digital Systems Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, and AI in Biotechnology Systems (in collaboration with Almetyevsk State Oil Institute). ITMO’s Engineering School was ranked first among the program’s participants in 2024.
Same year, ITMO University had another impressive showing, maintaining its stance as the top participant of the Research Leadership track of Priority 2030. As part of this national program, ITMO University implements its own 2030 Development Strategy, also referred to as Open-Source University, which includes a slew of strategic projects, all intended to accelerate scientific and technological breakthroughs, attain a high level of technological readiness, transform the educational process, and encourage integration between business, science, and education.
ITMO in world rankings
ITMO University is the world’s only seven-time ACM ICPC champion. The university ranked 79th in Computer Science and 155th in Engineering & Technologies according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
